Maria Takapu
Office Engineer
Maria Takapu joined ANCHOR September of 2023 an Office Engineer after recently graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Before coming to work for ANCHOR, she was working full-time as an Operations Manager for United Airlines at the San Jose and San Francisco Airport, a position she held for 11 years. While in school and working at the airport, she also successfully completed summer internships at the Santa Clara Valley Water District in the Watershed Design and Construction Unit and in 2023 for the City and County of San Francisco as Student Design Trainee I in the Infrastructure Design and Construction Department. It was through this internship that she met Natasha Ikponmwomba who referred her to ANCHOR.
Maria is born and raised in South San Francisco, CA. Maria brings a tenacity and work ethic that aligns with our corporate values at ANCHOR. As an Office Engineer, she will assist the Resident Engineers, work on projects as a Construction Management Administrator and be trained as a Construction Inspector in the field.
How do you like the job so far?
I really enjoy working at ANCHOR. I am learning so much from the current projects I am working on, while providing the knowledge and skills.
What are you doing with all your free time now that you only have one full-time job?
I can spend more time with my family and work on my personal goals.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself applying for my Professional Engineer License.
